Charley Crockett has not released a record in 16 months, which may seem like a short time compared to other artists' album release schedules. However, this is not the case for Crockett, as he managed to release an impressive nine records between 2018 and 2022.

Crockett's upcoming album, titled $10 Cowboy, is highly anticipated due to various factors, including the long wait for its release. According to Crockett, the record is a heartfelt homage to his homeland, portraying a journey through different parts of the country.

According to the speaker, this content is created in various locations such as truck stops, casinos, and the alleys near venues. They also mention that they write it in their truck, which is often parked on South Congress in Austin. As someone who constantly moves around and doesn't have a fixed residence, they believe they are in a favorable position to provide insights and commentary about America.

Crockett has consistently incorporated themes related to America in his music. In an interview with Rolling Stone in 2021, he revealed that his song "Music City, U.S.A." also indirectly addresses the United States.

In collaboration with Billy Horton, Crockett has penned the title track for his album " $10 Cowboy". This song embodies the gritty and authentic portrayal of the working class that Crockett has become known for in his recent writing. Crockett and his band will have their first performance of the song on the Jimmy Kimmel Live! show on Monday night.

According to Crockett, being on the road allows you to witness firsthand how different Americans perceive themselves as experiencing significant struggles. These struggles can range from the roughneck working in the oil and gas fields in West Texas, to the single mother raising children on her own, to the young man who feels compelled to work on a street corner because he believes it is his only option. Crockett acknowledges that he sees a common thread among these individuals – they all feel invisible. He is deeply affected by the internal battles they are fighting and the ways in which they have been trapped by society's perception of who they are as Americans.
