Charley Crockett has taken a significant break of 16 months from releasing new music. While this may seem like a short period for most artists, it is quite different for Crockett, who managed to release an impressive nine albums between 2018 and 2022.

Crockett's upcoming album, titled $10 Cowboy, is highly anticipated for several reasons, one being the long wait for its release. In his statement, Crockett revealed that the album is a heartfelt homage to his homeland, showcasing his wandering spirit.

He mentioned that this content is written in various locations such as truck stops, casinos, and alleys behind venues. He also writes while sitting in his truck parked on South Congress in Austin. Being a wanderer and constantly on the move, he believes he is in a unique position to offer his perspective on America.

Crockett has consistently incorporated the theme of America in his work. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, he revealed that his song "Music City, U.S.A." also encompasses the essence of the United States.

Collaborating with Billy Horton, Crockett has created the leading track for his album "The $10 Cowboy." This song showcases Crockett's signature style of gritty and authentic depictions of the working class. Crockett and his band will perform the song for the first time on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday evening.

According to Crockett, being on the road provides a firsthand understanding of how various Americans perceive themselves as going through significant struggles. Whether it is the roughneck working in the oil and gas fields in West Texas, the single mother raising children alone, or the young man resorting to working on the street because he believes it's his only choice, each individual feels invisible. Crockett is deeply moved by the internal battles they are fighting and how they have become trapped by society's perception of them.
