Country singer Chris Young was taken into custody for disorderly conduct and allegedly assaulting a police officer at a bar in Nashville.
Chris Young, the country singer set to release his upcoming album Young Love & Saturday Nights on March 22, was reportedly taken into custody on Monday evening at a bar in Nashville. The arrest followed an alleged altercation between Young and an agent from the Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission.
Based on the arrest records obtained by Rolling Stone, Young, who is 38 years old, has been accused of committing disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and assaulting a police officer.
The occurrence seems to have started when the TABC conducted a regular inspection of identification and license cards at the bars located on Demonbreun Hill, a well-known area filled with nightclubs in Nashville. During the inspection, while the TABC was examining the IDs of the customers at the bar Tin Roof, Young presented his identification and then proceeded to question and record the actions of the agents.
Based on the information in the document, Young and a group of friends followed the agents to a nearby bar called the Dawg House. Young allegedly prevented one of the agents from leaving the bar by blocking their path and physically striking them on the shoulder. In response, the agent pushed Young away to create distance, as they were unaware of Young's identity or intentions.
According to the sworn statement, there was a confrontation and Young was taken into custody and restrained with handcuffs. The report mentions that Young had bloodshot and watery eyes, and his speech was slurred. Young was then taken to the Metro jail and released on Tuesday morning.
