Country singer Chris Young was apprehended for disorderly conduct and allegedly attacking a police officer at a bar in Nashville.
Singer Chris Young, who has an upcoming album called Young Love & Saturday Nights set to release on March 22, was taken into custody on Monday evening at a bar in Nashville. The arrest was made following an alleged altercation between Young and an agent from the Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission.
Based on the arrest documents Rolling Stone obtained, Young, who is 38 years old, has been accused of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and assaulting a police officer.
The situation seemingly originated from a regular inspection carried out by the TABC to ensure that identification and license cards of patrons at bars on Demonbreun Hill in Nashville were in compliance. During the inspection at the bar Tin Roof, Young presented his identification card and subsequently started questioning and filming the agents.
Based on the document, Young and several of his friends then followed the agents to a nearby bar called the Dawg House. Young allegedly prevented one of the agents from leaving the bar by blocking their path. The agent stated in the affidavit that while he was walking towards the exit, Young extended his hands to stop him and then struck him on the shoulder. In response, the agent pushed Young away to create some distance because he had no knowledge of who Young was or what his intentions were.
According to the affidavit, there was a confrontation that occurred, resulting in Young being detained and placed in handcuffs. The report mentions that Young's eyes were red and watery, and his speech was slurred. Young was then taken to the Metro jail and released on Tuesday morning.
