  • by

Country singer Chris Young was taken into custody for disorderly conduct and allegedly assaulting a law enforcement officer at a bar in Nashville.

Chris Young, an artist set to drop his latest album Young Love & Saturday Nights on March 22, was taken into custody on Monday evening at a bar in Nashville. The arrest followed an alleged altercation between Young and an agent affiliated with the Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission.

Based on legal records obtained by Rolling Stone, Young, who is 38 years old, is facing charges of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and assaulting a law enforcement officer.

The incident seems to have started when the TABC conducted a regular check of identification and license cards at the bars located on Demonbreun Hill, a well-known area with nightclubs in Nashville. During the check, while the TABC was verifying the IDs of the customers at Tin Roof bar, Young willingly presented his identification. However, he then proceeded to question and record the actions of the agents.

Based on the document, Young and a group of friends followed the agents to a bar called the Dawg House. Young allegedly prevented one of the agents from leaving the bar by blocking their path and then struck the agent on the shoulder. In response, the agent pushed Young away to create distance because they were unaware of who Young was or what he might do.

According to the sworn statement, there was a confrontation that took place, resulting in Young being detained and put in handcuffs. The report mentions that Young's eyes were red and watery, and his speech was slurred. Young was taken to the Metro jail and released on Tuesday morning.
