Country singer Morgan Wallen expresses anger towards his former managers for releasing his old music without his consent, and retaliates by releasing a new song in response.
Country artist Morgan Wallen released a new song called "Spin You Around (1/24)" on Friday as a response to his former managers allegedly releasing a collection of his old songs without his consent. Wallen explained the situation to his fans through a lengthy Instagram post on Thursday.
In 2014, Wallen decided to go to Florida in order to work on writing and recording his own music. As a result, he ended up signing a recording deal and an artist management deal that he now deeply regrets. Wallen admitted that he made these agreements without seeking advice from a lawyer.
According to him, a total of 13 songs were created, but the quality varied. While some were decent, the majority were quite terrible due to his inexperience in writing and trying to navigate the process. It's important to note that he wasn't the sole collaborator, so a significant number of these songs didn't align with his vision or meet his personal standards.
The singer revealed that after those recording sessions, they produced a five-track EP called Stand Alone. One of the songs on the EP, titled "Spin You Around," gained popularity among fans. Now, a decade later, the singer's former colleagues are planning to release the original EP along with eight previously unreleased songs.

Wallen expressed his disgust and disapproval of the situation, stating that it is an illustration of the negative and selfish aspects of the music industry that can drain the creativity and passion from artists.
In response, Wallen has stated that, apart from re-recording the song "Spin You Around," he will be donating $100,000 from his Morgan Wallen Foundation to the Volunteer Lawyers & Professionals for the Arts program. This program, based in Tennessee, offers legal advice and support to artists. Wallen hopes that aspiring musicians will read about his situation and understand that they should never have to sacrifice their creative freedoms for opportunities in the music industry.

The country artist also urged his fans to ignore any unauthorized music that is released and announced that he will start recording his next project at the end of February. He expressed his concern that fans may mistake these songs for new releases by him and assured them that when new music is ready, they will hear it directly from him.
Wallen stated that he wrote his Instagram post about "Spin You Around" during a trip for duck-hunting. Additionally, Wallen recently revealed that he and Eric Church have acquired Field & Stream magazine and intend to revive the brand by introducing a new website, membership packages, and hosting a live music festival.
