Surveillance Video Contradicts Officer’s Assault Claims in Chris Young Arrest

  • by

The arrest of Chris Young is being questioned as surveillance video contradicts the officer's claims of assault.

Video footage from the night when Chris Young was arrested at a bar in Nashville seems to contradict the statement made by a Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission agent, who claimed that the country singer had assaulted the officer during the incident on Monday night.

Two surveillance videos, shared on Facebook by Nick Beres, a reporter from Nashville's Newschannel 5, show Young, who is wearing a leather jacket in the footage, calmly approaching the undercover TABC agents. Young lightly touches one of the agents on the arm, but in response, the agent forcefully pushes Young, causing him to fall over a bar stool at the Dawg House bar.

After the incident, Young was accused of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and assaulting an officer. The video footage does not capture Young's actual arrest or whether he resisted. However, according to the agent's arrest affidavit obtained by Rolling Stone, the agent claimed that Young prevented them from leaving Dawg House and physically blocked their path by placing his hands out and hitting the agent's shoulder. However, the video footage shows that this claim was exaggerated.

Chris Young has been taken into custody at a bar in Nashville, as shown in a video shared on Twitter by user Fongduck (@MCFongduck) on January 24, 2024.

Young was standing by, wanting to approach the men and inquire about the reason they had taken a picture of his ID. He extended his hand to get the attention of the agent, intending to engage in a conversation. However, the agent forcefully pushed Young, causing him to fall to the ground. According to Young's attorney, his client's sole intention was to verify the identity of these men, who were not easily distinguishable by their attire, and to gain an understanding of why they had photographed his ID.

After being pushed by the agent, Young retreats from the conflict with his hands raised, as his colleagues and a few other customers gather around the agents.

Beres stated that according to Young's lawyer, the treatment his client received at the Dawg House was unjust and he should never have been arrested. The lawyer also believes that ABC should withdraw the charges against Young and issue an apology.

According to the affidavit, it was noted that Young had red and watery eyes, and his speech was unclear. He was arrested and later released from Metro jail on Tuesday morning. Young's next court appearance for the charges is set for February 16th.

A video released by Chris Young's lawyer has brought up concerns regarding the country star's arrest at a well-known Nashville bar on Monday night. The video can be viewed at the provided link.

According to a statement from Young's lawyer, Bill Ramsey, he believes that the singer's arrest was unjust and is requesting for the charges to be dismissed.

Ramsey, the lawyer representing Chris Young, believes that the arrest and charges brought against his client after an incident at a bar in Nashville were unjust and should not have happened. He argues that the Tennessee ABC should drop the charges and issue an apology to Young for the physical, emotional, and professional harm caused to him.
