The arrest of Chris Young is being called into question as surveillance video contradicts the officer's claims of assault.
According to Daniel Kreps, the surveillance footage from the evening when Chris Young was arrested at a bar in Nashville seems to challenge the statements made by a Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission agent. The agent had alleged that the country singer had assaulted the officer during the incident on Monday night.
Two surveillance videos, shared on Facebook by Nick Beres, a reporter from Nashville's Newschannel 5, show Young, who is wearing a leather jacket, approaching undercover agents from TABC (Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission) in a non-threatening manner and lightly touching one of the agents on the arm. In response, the agent forcefully pushes Young, causing him to fall over a bar stool at the Dawg House bar.
After the incident, Young was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and assault of an officer. The video footage does not show the actual arrest of Young or whether he resisted. However, according to the arrest affidavit obtained by Rolling Stone, the agent claimed that Young "blocked" the agents from leaving Dawg House and "put his hands out to stop me from leaving the bar and stuck me on the shoulder." However, the video shows that this claim was exaggerated.
A video circulating on social media shows that Chris Young has been arrested at a bar in Nashville. The incident occurred on January 24, 2024, as shown in the attached video link.
Young is patiently waiting to inquire about why the men took a picture of his ID and extends his hand to request the agent to pause for a conversation. As a response, the agent forcefully pushes Young, causing him to fall to the ground. According to Young's attorney, his client simply wished to verify the identity of the individuals, who were not clearly identifiable by their uniforms, and inquire about the purpose of photographing his ID.
After being pushed by the agent, Young retreats from the altercation with his hands raised, as his colleagues and a few other customers gather around the agents.
Beres stated that Young's attorney informed him that the treatment his client received in the Dawg House was unjustified. The lawyer also believes that Young should not have been arrested and is urging ABC to withdraw the charges and issue an apology.
According to the affidavit, Young appeared to have red and watery eyes, and his speech was unclear. He was arrested and later released from the Metro jail on Tuesday morning. Young's next court appearance for the charges is scheduled for February 16th.

Young's lawyer, Bill Ramsey, released a statement expressing his belief that the singer's arrest was unjust and requested for the charges against him to be dismissed.
Ramsey, the lawyer representing Chris Young, expressed his belief that the arrest and charges against his client were unjust. He argued that the Tennessee Alcohol Beverage Commission (ABC) should drop the charges and issue an apology due to the evidence provided in a video.
