The arrest of Chris Young is under scrutiny as surveillance video contradicts the claims made by the officer regarding assault.
Video footage from the night Chris Young was arrested at a bar in Nashville seems to challenge the claims made by a Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission agent that the country singer physically attacked the officer during the altercation on Monday night.
Nashville's Newschannel 5 reporter, Nick Beres, shared two surveillance videos on Facebook on Tuesday. The videos show Young, who is wearing a leather jacket, calmly approaching the undercover TABC agents. Young lightly touches one of the agents on the arm, but in response, the agent forcefully pushes Young backward. This causes Young to fall over a bar stool at the Dawg House bar.
Following the incident, Young was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and assault of an officer. The video footage does not capture Young's actual arrest or whether he resisted. However, according to the arrest affidavit obtained by Rolling Stone, the agent claimed that Young "blocked" them from leaving Dawg House and "physically prevented" them from exiting the bar by touching the agent's shoulder. The video evidence contradicts this claim and shows that the agent's statement was exaggerated.
On January 24, 2024, a Twitter user named Fongduck shared a video of Chris Young being arrested in a bar in Nashville. The video can be seen in the attached tweet.
"Young is patiently waiting to approach the men and inquire about the reason they took a picture of his ID. He extends his hand to request the agent to pause for a conversation. However, unexpectedly, the agent forcefully pushes Young, causing him to fall to the ground. Young's lawyer states that his client's intention was simply to verify the identity of the individuals, who were not easily identifiable by their uniforms, and to inquire about the purpose behind photographing his ID."
After being pushed by the agent, Young retreats from the argument with his hands raised, as his colleagues and a few other customers gather around the agents.
Beres stated that according to Young's lawyer, what occurred to his client at the Dawg House was unjust and he should not have been taken into custody. The lawyer also expressed that ABC should withdraw the accusations against Young and issue an apology.
According to the affidavit, Young displayed signs of intoxication such as bloodshot and watery eyes, as well as slurred speech. He was arrested and later released from the Metro jail on Tuesday morning. Young's next court appearance for the charges is set for February 16th.

There is a surveillance video that has been released by Chris Young's lawyer, which is causing doubts about the country star's arrest at a well-known Nashville bar on Monday night. The video can be viewed at the provided link. The video is courtesy of Bill Ramsey.
Young's lawyer, Bill Ramsey, expressed that the singer's arrest was unjust and advocated for the charges to be dismissed.
Ramsey, Chris Young's lawyer, stated that what occurred to his client at a bar in Nashville on Monday night was unjust and he should not have been arrested or charged in the first place. Ramsey believes that, considering the video evidence, the Tennessee ABC should dismiss the charges against Young and issue an apology for the harm caused to him both physically and emotionally, as well as the harm done to his professional reputation.
