Surveillance Video Raises Doubts About Officer’s Assault Claims in Chris Young Arrest

  • by

Surveillance footage contradicts the claims made by an officer regarding Chris Young's arrest.

Video footage from the night Chris Young was arrested at a bar in Nashville seems to challenge the statements made by a Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission agent, who claimed that the country singer assaulted him during the altercation on Monday evening.

Nick Beres, a reporter from Nashville's Newschannel 5, shared two surveillance videos on Facebook on Tuesday. In the videos, Young, who is wearing a leather jacket, can be seen calmly approaching the undercover agents from TABC (Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission). Young touches one of the agents on the arm in a non-aggressive manner. In response, the agent forcefully pushes Young, causing him to fall over a bar stool at the Dawg House bar.

Young was accused of engaging in disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and assaulting an officer after the incident. The video footage does not capture the actual moment of Young's arrest or any resistance on his part. However, according to the agent's arrest affidavit obtained by Rolling Stone, the agent claimed that Young "obstructed" the agents from leaving Dawg House and physically prevented the agent from leaving the bar by placing his hands on the agent's shoulder. However, the video shows that this claim was exaggerated.

A video showing Chris Young being arrested at a bar in Nashville has been shared on social media. The incident took place on January 24, 2024. The video clip can be found on Twitter with the handle @MCFongduck and the link pic.twitter.com/4cmgw6cASA.

Young is standing by, wanting to approach the men and inquire about why they took a picture of his ID. He tries to get the attention of one of the agents to stop and engage in conversation. However, instead of complying, the agent forcefully pushes Young, causing him to fall to the ground. According to Young's attorney, all he wanted was to verify the identity of the individuals who were not easily identifiable due to their lack of distinct uniforms and discuss the reason behind the photo of his identification.

After the agent forcefully pushes him, Young retreats from the altercation with his hands raised, as his companions and a few other customers gather around the agents.

Beres mentioned that Young's attorney informed him that the treatment his client received at the Dawg House was unjust, and that he should not have been arrested. The attorney also suggested that ABC should dismiss the charges against Young and issue an apology.

According to the affidavit, Young exhibited signs of intoxication such as bloodshot and watery eyes and slurred speech. He was arrested and later released from the Metro jail on Tuesday morning. Young's next court appearance regarding the charges is set for February 16.

A surveillance video released by Chris Young's lawyer has caused some doubts regarding the country star's arrest at a popular bar in Nashville on Monday night. The video, courtesy of Bill Ramsey, can be seen at the provided link.

According to a statement from Young's lawyer, Bill Ramsey, the arrest of the singer was deemed unjust and he is urging for the charges to be dismissed.

According to Ramsey, the actions taken against his client Chris Young at a bar in Nashville were unjust, and Young should not have been arrested or charged in the first place. Ramsey believes that, considering the video evidence, the Tennessee ABC should drop the charges and issue an apology for the physical, emotional, and professional harm caused to his client.
