The arrest of Chris Young has been called into question as surveillance video contradicts the officer's claims of assault.
According to surveillance footage obtained from a Nashville bar, it seems to contradict the claims made by a Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission agent regarding Chris Young's arrest. The video suggests that the country singer did not assault the officer during the incident that occurred on Monday night.
Nashville's Newschannel 5 reporter Nick Beres shared two surveillance videos on Facebook on Tuesday. The videos show Young, who is wearing a leather jacket, calmly approaching the undercover TABC agents. Young lightly touches one of the agents on the arm. However, instead of responding peacefully, the agent forcefully pushes Young, causing him to fall over a bar stool at the Dawg House bar.
Young has been accused of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and assaulting an officer after the incident. The video does not provide evidence of Young's actual arrest or whether he resisted. However, according to the arrest affidavit obtained by Rolling Stone, the agent stated that Young obstructed the agents from leaving Dawg House and physically stopped him from leaving the bar by hitting him on the shoulder. The video, however, shows that this claim was exaggerated.
On January 24, 2024, a video was shared on Twitter by a user named Fongduck, showing Chris Young being arrested at a bar in Nashville.
Young is currently waiting to inquire why the men captured a picture of his identification and attempts to approach the agent to initiate a conversation. However, the agent forcefully pushes Young, causing him to fall to the ground. According to Young's attorney, his client simply wanted to verify the identity of these individuals, who were not easily identifiable due to the lack of distinguishable uniforms, and inquire about the purpose of photographing his ID.
After being forcefully pushed by the agent, Young retreats from the altercation with his hands raised, as his colleagues and a few other customers gather around the agents.
Beres included that Young's attorney informed him that the incident that occurred to his client at the Dawg House was unjust, stating that he should not have been arrested. The lawyer also believes that ABC should withdraw the charges and issue an apology.
According to the affidavit, Young exhibited signs of intoxication such as bloodshot and watery eyes, as well as slurred speech. He was arrested and later released from Metro jail on Tuesday morning. Young's next court appearance for the charges is set for February 16th.

Young's lawyer, Bill Ramsey, released a statement expressing disagreement with the singer's arrest and advocating for the charges to be dismissed.
Ramsey, the lawyer representing Chris Young, expressed his belief that what occurred at a bar in Nashville on Monday night was unjust. He argues that Young should never have been arrested or charged in the first place. Ramsey believes that, considering the video evidence, the Tennessee ABC should drop the charges against Young and issue an apology for the physical, emotional, and professional harm inflicted upon his client.
