Charley Crockett has not released a new record in 16 months, which may seem short compared to other artists' album release cycles. However, this is quite different for Crockett, as he released an impressive total of nine records between 2018 and 2022, spanning over five years.

The long wait for the release of Cowboy Crockett's upcoming album, titled $10, is just one of the many reasons why it is highly anticipated. According to Crockett, the album is a heartfelt homage to his homeland, reflecting his wanderings and experiences.

The author mentioned that this piece of writing is inspired by various locations such as truck stops, casinos, alleys behind venues, and even in their own truck parked up on South Congress in Austin. Being a wanderer and constantly on the move, they believe that they have a unique perspective on America and have something important to share about the country.

Crockett has consistently explored the theme of America in his work. In an interview with Rolling Stone in 2021, he revealed that his song "Music City, U.S.A." also had an underlying focus on the United States.

Collaborating with Billy Horton, Crockett has created the main song for his latest album " $10 Cowboy", which showcases his signature style of gritty and authentic depictions of the working class. Crockett and his band will be performing the song for the first time on the television show Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday evening.

According to Crockett, being on the road allows one to directly witness how different Americans perceive themselves as going through significant struggles. This includes the roughneck working in the oil and gas fields in West Texas, the single mother raising children alone, and the young man working on the street because he feels it is his only option. Crockett acknowledges that he can see a common thread among them all – they all feel invisible. He is moved by the internal battles they are fighting and how they have become trapped by society's perceptions of them.
