Charley Crockett has not released a record in 16 months, which is a relatively short time compared to most artists' album release cycles. However, Crockett is not like most artists as he managed to release nine records between 2018 and 2022, which is quite impressive.

Crockett's upcoming album, titled $10 Cowboy, is highly anticipated for several reasons, one of them being the long wait for its release. Crockett stated that the album serves as a heartfelt homage to his homeland, reflecting his wandering spirit.

According to the speaker, this content is created in various locations such as truck stops, casinos, and the alleys behind venues. Additionally, it is written in his truck, which is usually parked on South Congress in Austin. As someone who constantly moves around and doesn't have a permanent home, he believes he is in a unique position to offer insights and opinions about America.

Crockett has a recurring theme of America in his music. In an interview with Rolling Stone in 2021, he mentioned that his song "Music City, U.S.A." also has an underlying focus on the United States.

Collaborating with Billy Horton, Crockett has penned the title track for his album " $10 Cowboy", which showcases his signature style of gritty and authentic portrayal of working-class life. Crockett and his band will be performing the song for the first time on the Jimmy Kimmel Live! show on Monday evening.

In a statement, Crockett expressed that being on the road allows him to witness firsthand how different types of Americans perceive themselves as going through significant struggles. He mentions examples such as the hardworking individuals in the oil and gas industry in West Texas, single mothers raising children on their own, and young men resorting to working on street corners due to limited options. Crockett acknowledges that he can see a common thread among them – a feeling of invisibility. He is deeply moved by the internal battles they face and how they have been trapped by society's perception of them.
