Chris Young has been taken into custody for disorderly conduct and reportedly assaulting a police officer at a bar in Nashville.
Country music artist Chris Young, who has an upcoming album titled Young Love & Saturday Nights set to be released on March 22, was taken into custody on Monday evening at a bar in Nashville. The reason behind his arrest was reportedly a dispute with an agent from the Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission.
Based on the arrest documents Rolling Stone obtained, Young, who is 38 years old, was accused of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and assaulting a police officer.
The situation seems to have started when the TABC conducted a regular inspection of identification and license cards at the bars located on Demonbreun Hill, a well-known area for nightclubs in Nashville. During this inspection, the TABC agents were verifying the IDs of customers who were drinking at the bar called Tin Roof. At this point, Young provided his own identification, but instead of simply cooperating, he began to question and record the agents.
Based on the document, Young and a group of friends then followed the agents to a bar called the Dawg House. Young apparently prevented an agent from leaving the bar by blocking their path and physically striking them on the shoulder. In response, the agent pushed Young away to create distance, as they were unaware of Young's identity or intentions.
According to the sworn statement, a confrontation occurred and Young was detained and restrained with handcuffs. The report mentions that Young's eyes were red and watery, and his speech was unclear. Young was taken into custody at the Metro jail and released on Tuesday morning.
