For a long time, the idea of going on Broadway and having my own show there has been a major goal of mine. It's something I really want to make sure I accomplish while I'm still alive and able to actively participate in it.
By doing so, she will have the opportunity to make artistic choices, such as the unconventional decision to allow anyone, regardless of their background in musical theater, to audition for the role of Dolly.
Parton suggests that she may be leading a competition called "Finding Dolly," where they will conduct a wide search for talented individuals to portray three different versions of the main character. These versions include a young Dolly, a Dolly from her earlier years, and an older Dolly, as clarified by the singer.
"We will be holding auditions and exploring various methods to discover these individuals. I believe it will also be an enjoyable experience for people," Parton adds. "You never know where these individuals may be found. They may have never performed on stage before, or perhaps they have only been involved in local theater. However, we will actively search for them, and I believe that will add to the excitement."
Dolly Parton has mentioned the possibility of a musical about her life in previous interviews. She recently expressed her desire to see the show come to life by the end of 2025, as stated in her recent conversation with People magazine.
The country legend has multiple career dreams that she is currently pursuing. In a previous interview with Taste of Country, Parton mentioned her desire to establish her own television network in the near future.
