Dolly Parton is interested in holding a lookalike contest for a specific reason. If you happen to have a strong resemblance to Dolly Parton, regardless of which stage of her career, she might consider selecting you to be a part of a Broadway musical that tells the story of her life.
Indeed, Parton has recently disclosed to People that she is presently engaged in the process of transforming her life story into a musical.
She expresses that performing on Broadway and debuting her own show there has always been a significant aspiration for her. It is the goal that she is determined to achieve while she is still alive and able to actively participate in it.
By doing so, she will have the opportunity to make artistic choices, such as the unconventional decision to allow individuals from diverse backgrounds to audition for the role of Dolly, regardless of their prior experience in musical theater.
Parton suggests that she could potentially lead a competition called "Finding Dolly," which aims to find talented individuals to portray three different versions of the main character. These versions include a younger Dolly, an earlier stage of Dolly's life, and an older Dolly.
"We will be holding auditions and exploring various methods to discover these individuals. It is an exciting prospect for the audience as well," Parton explains. "The search for these talents will be an adventurous journey. They could be individuals who have never stepped foot on a stage or perhaps have only performed in small local theaters. Nonetheless, we are determined to find them, and that aspect will add to the enjoyment of the process."
Parton has previously mentioned the possibility of a musical about her life in various interviews. She expressed her desire to have the show ready by late 2025, as revealed in her recent discussion with People magazine.
