Dolly Parton is interested in hosting a lookalike contest for a specific reason. If you happen to look remarkably similar to Dolly Parton, whether it's from any point in her career, there is a chance that she may consider casting you in a Broadway production about her life.
Indeed, Parton has disclosed to People that she is presently engaged in the process of transforming her life story into a musical.
She expresses that going to Broadway and debuting her show there has always been a significant goal for her. She is determined to accomplish it while she is still active and able to participate in the production.
By doing so, she will have the opportunity to make innovative choices, such as the unconventional decision to allow individuals from various backgrounds to audition for the role of Dolly, rather than limiting it to those with extensive experience in musical theater.
Parton suggests that she may lead a competition called "Finding Dolly," where they will conduct a wide search for talented individuals to portray three versions of the main character. These versions include a younger Dolly, an earlier years Dolly, and an older Dolly, as clarified by the singer.
"We will be conducting auditions and exploring various methods to discover talented individuals. I believe this process will be enjoyable for everyone," adds Parton. "It's exciting because you never know where you might come across these individuals. They could be completely new to performing, or perhaps they have only been involved in local theater productions. Nevertheless, we will actively seek them out, and I believe this aspect will add to the excitement."
This isn't the initial occasion where Parton has hinted at the possibility of creating a musical inspired by her own life: She has mentioned it occasionally in interviews. The singer aspires to have the production ready by the end of 2025, as stated in her recent discussion with People magazine.
One of the aspirations that the renowned country singer is currently striving to achieve is to fulfill her career dreams. In January of last year, Parton shared with Taste of Country that she also has a desire to establish her own television network in the near future.
