Dolly Parton is interested in organizing a lookalike contest for a specific reason. She is open to casting individuals who closely resemble her, regardless of which stage of her career they resemble, for a Broadway musical based on her life.
Yes, it is true. Parton is currently working on transforming her life story into a musical, as she recently disclosed in an interview with People magazine.
For a long time, she has had a strong desire to go to Broadway and have her own show there. It is a goal that she has been thinking about for a significant amount of time. She is determined to make sure that she accomplishes this goal while she is still alive and able to actively participate in it.
In this manner, she will have the opportunity to exercise her creativity by making unconventional choices, such as allowing individuals from diverse backgrounds to audition for the role of Dolly, regardless of their prior experience in musical theater.
Parton suggests that she might personally oversee a competition called "Finding Dolly," where a wide search for talented individuals will be conducted to cast three different versions of the main character. These versions include a younger Dolly, a Dolly from her earlier years, and an older Dolly.
"We will be holding auditions and exploring various methods to discover talented individuals. I believe this process will also be enjoyable for others," Parton explains. "It is unpredictable where we will come across these individuals. They could be new to the stage or have experience in a local theater, but our search for them will definitely add an element of fun, in my opinion."
Parton has mentioned the idea of a musical about her life in the past, but this is not the first time. She has briefly discussed it in various interviews. In her recent conversation with People, the singer expressed her desire for the show to be ready by "late '25."
The country music icon has multiple career aspirations that she is actively pursuing. In a previous interview with Taste of Country, Parton expressed her desire to establish her own television network in the near future.
