Dolly Parton’s Broadway Dreams: Why She Wants to Hold a Lookalike Contest for Her Life Musical

  • by

Dolly Parton is interested in hosting a lookalike contest for a specific reason. If you happen to closely resemble Dolly Parton, whether it's from any stage of her career, she might consider selecting you to be a part of a Broadway musical based on her life.

Yes, it is true. Parton is currently working on transforming her life story into a musical, as she disclosed to People magazine.

Opening a show on Broadway has always been a significant goal for her, one that she has been determined to achieve for a long time. She wants to ensure that she accomplishes this goal while she is still alive and able to actively participate in it.

In this manner, she will have the opportunity to make artistic choices, which includes the unconventional decision of allowing anyone, regardless of their background in musical theater, to audition for the role of Dolly.

Parton suggests that she may take charge of a contest called "Finding Dolly," where a wide talent search will be conducted to find actors for three distinct versions of the main character. These versions will include a young Dolly, a Dolly from her earlier years, and an older Dolly, as described by the singer.

"We will be holding auditions and searching for them using various methods. I believe this process will also be enjoyable for others," Parton adds. "You never know where you will discover them. They may have never performed on stage before, or perhaps they have only been involved in local theater. However, we will actively seek them out, and I believe that will be an exciting part of the experience."

Parton has mentioned the possibility of a musical about her life on previous occasions. In a recent interview with People, she expressed her desire to have the show ready by the end of 2025.

The famous country singer has a few career dreams that she is currently striving to achieve. In an interview with Taste of Country last January, Parton shared her desire to create her own television network in the near future.
