Dolly Parton has expressed her interest in organizing a lookalike contest, and if you happen to closely resemble her, regardless of the specific time period in her career, she may consider selecting you to star in a Broadway production based on her life.
Indeed, Parton has confirmed that she is currently in the process of transforming her life story into a musical, as she disclosed to People magazine.
She expresses that one of her long-standing aspirations is to perform on Broadway and have her show premiere there. This is a significant goal that has been on her mind for a considerable amount of time. She emphasizes that ensuring the accomplishment of this goal is important to her while she is still alive and able to actively participate in it.
In this manner, she will have the opportunity to make artistic choices, such as the unconventional decision to extend casting opportunities to individuals from various backgrounds, rather than solely focusing on those with extensive experience in musical theater.
Parton suggests that she could be leading a competition called "Finding Dolly," which aims to discover talented individuals to portray three different versions of the main character. These versions include a younger Dolly, an earlier stage of Dolly's life, and an older Dolly.
"We will be conducting auditions and searching for talented individuals using various methods. I believe this process will also be enjoyable for the audience," Parton states. "You never know where we might discover these individuals. They could be completely new to performing or perhaps have some experience in local theaters. Either way, the search for them will be an exciting part of the process, in my opinion."
Parton has previously mentioned the possibility of a musical about her life in a few interviews. She expressed her desire to see the show come to life by the end of 2025, as mentioned in her recent discussion with People magazine.
The famous country singer has multiple career goals that she is actively pursuing. In a previous interview with Taste of Country, Parton expressed her desire to create her own television network in the near future.
