Dolly Parton Launches Talent Search for Broadway Musical About Her Life

  • by

Dolly Parton is interested in hosting a contest to find someone who looks very similar to her. If you resemble Dolly Parton, no matter which phase of her career, she might consider selecting you to star in a Broadway show based on her life.

Indeed, Parton is currently engaged in the process of transforming her life story into a musical, as she recently disclosed to People magazine.

She expresses her long-standing aspiration to go to Broadway and have her own show there. It has been a significant goal of hers for a considerable amount of time. She emphasizes the importance of accomplishing this goal while she is still alive and able to actively participate in it.

In this manner, she will have the opportunity to make artistic choices, which includes the somewhat unconventional decision to allow individuals from all backgrounds to audition for the role of Dolly, rather than only considering those with extensive musical theater background.

Parton suggests that she may oversee a competition called "Finding Dolly," which aims to discover talented individuals to portray three different versions of the main character. These variations include a young Dolly, a Dolly from her earlier years, and an older Dolly.

"We will be conducting auditions and exploring various avenues to discover new talent. I believe this process will also be enjoyable for the audience," Parton adds. "You never know where these individuals may come from. They might not have any prior experience performing on stage, or they could have been involved in local theater productions. Our search for talent will be an exciting part of the overall experience."

Parton has mentioned the possibility of a musical about her life before, mentioning it in various interviews. She expressed her desire to have the show ready by "late '25" in her recent discussion with People.

Dolly Parton, the renowned country singer, has multiple career aspirations that she is actively pursuing. In an interview with Taste of Country last January, she disclosed her desire to establish her own television network in the near future.
