Dolly Parton Plans Broadway Musical About Her Life and Launches Lookalike Contest

  • by

Dolly Parton is interested in hosting a lookalike contest for a specific reason. If you happen to resemble Dolly Parton, whether it's from any point in her career, she might consider selecting you for a role in a Broadway musical that tells the story of her life.

It is true: Parton is currently working on transforming her life story into a musical, as she recently shared with People magazine.

She expresses that going to Broadway and having her own show there has always been a major goal in her thoughts for a long time. She emphasizes that this is the one goal she wants to ensure she achieves while she is alive and able to stay actively involved in it.

By doing so, she will have the opportunity to make artistic choices, such as the unconventional decision to allow anyone, regardless of their background in musical theater, to audition for the role of Dolly.

Parton suggests that she might take charge of a competition called "Finding Dolly," where a wide-ranging talent search will be conducted to find actors for three different versions of the main character. These versions include a young Dolly, a Dolly from her earlier years, and an older Dolly, as clarified by the singer.

"We will be holding auditions and searching for them using various methods. I believe this will also be enjoyable for the audience," Parton adds. "You never know where they might be discovered. They could be individuals who have never performed on stage, or perhaps they have been involved in community theater. We will actively search for them, and I think that aspect will be exciting."

This isn't the first instance where Parton has hinted at the possibility of a musical inspired by her life. She has mentioned it in a few interviews in the past. The singer expressed her desire to see the production come to life by the end of 2025, as per her recent conversation with People magazine.

The country legend has multiple career dreams that she is actively pursuing. In a previous interview with Taste of Country, Parton expressed her desire to create her own television network in the near future.
