Dolly Parton is interested in organizing a lookalike contest for a specific reason. If you happen to closely resemble Dolly Parton, regardless of the time period of her career, she may consider casting you in a Broadway production that tells the story of her life.
It has been revealed by Parton herself that she is currently working on transforming her life story into a musical.
She describes that going to Broadway and having her own show there has always been a significant goal for her. She wants to make sure that she accomplishes this goal while she is still alive and able to actively participate in it.
In this manner, she will have the opportunity to make artistic choices, such as the unconventional decision to allow casting for the role of Dolly from individuals of all backgrounds, rather than solely those with extensive experience in musical theater.
Parton mentions that she could potentially lead a competition called "Finding Dolly," which aims to search for talented individuals to portray three different versions of the main character. These versions include a younger Dolly, an older Dolly, and a child Dolly.
"We will be conducting auditions and using various methods to discover talented individuals. I believe this process will be enjoyable for people as well," Parton explains. "The exciting part is that you never know where we will discover these individuals. They might have never performed on stage before, or perhaps they have had experience in a local theater. Our search for these talents will add to the excitement and enjoyment, in my opinion."
Parton has mentioned the possibility of a musical about her life in previous interviews. She expressed her desire to see the show come to fruition by the end of 2025, as mentioned in her recent discussion with People magazine.
The country music icon has a number of career aspirations that she is actively pursuing. In an interview with Taste of Country in January, Parton shared her desire to establish her own television network in the near future.
