  • by

Dolly Parton is interested in organizing a lookalike contest for a specific reason. If you happen to closely resemble Dolly Parton, regardless of which stage of her career, she may consider selecting you for a Broadway musical that portrays her life.

Indeed, Parton has disclosed to People that she is currently engaged in the process of transforming her life story into a musical.

She expresses that performing on Broadway and debuting her own show there has been a significant goal for her for a long time. She emphasizes that this is the accomplishment she wants to ensure she achieves while she is still alive and able to actively participate in it.

In this manner, she will have the opportunity to make artistic choices, which includes the unconventional decision to allow individuals from various backgrounds to audition for the role of Dolly, rather than only considering those with extensive experience in musical theater.

Parton mentions that she could potentially lead a contest called "Finding Dolly," which aims to find three different versions of the main character. These versions include a young Dolly, a Dolly from her earlier years, and an older Dolly. Parton provides this explanation.

"We will be holding auditions and exploring various methods to discover talented individuals. I believe this process will be enjoyable for everyone," Parton expresses. "It's exciting because you never know where these individuals might be found. They could be completely new to performing or perhaps have some experience in a local theater. The search for these individuals will be an exciting and enjoyable aspect, in my opinion."

Parton has mentioned the possibility of a musical about her life before, making references to it in various interviews. In her most recent conversation with People, she expressed her desire to see the show come to fruition by the end of 2025.

The country music icon has many career aspirations that she is actively pursuing. In a previous interview with Taste of Country, Parton expressed her desire to establish her own television network in the near future.
