Correct, Parton is currently in the process of transforming her life story into a musical, as she disclosed to People magazine.
She expresses that going to Broadway and debuting her own show there has always been a significant aspiration for her. It is a goal she has been determined to achieve for a long time. She wants to ensure that she accomplishes it while she is still alive and able to actively participate in it.
By doing so, she will have the opportunity to make artistic choices, such as the unique decision to broaden the casting process for Dollys by considering individuals from diverse backgrounds, rather than solely focusing on those with extensive musical theater background.
According to Parton, she could potentially lead a competition called "Finding Dolly," where they would conduct a widespread search to discover individuals who can portray three different versions of the main character. These versions would include a younger Dolly, an earlier stage of Dolly's life, and an older Dolly.
"We will be holding auditions and searching for these individuals using various methods. I believe this process will also be enjoyable for people," Parton explains. "You never know where we might discover them. They could be individuals who have never performed on stage before, or perhaps they have experience in a local theater. However, we will actively seek them out, and I believe this will add to the excitement."
This is not the first occasion where Parton has mentioned the possibility of a musical inspired by her own life. She has casually mentioned it in a few interviews in the past. Recently, in her latest conversation with People, the singer expressed her desire to have the show ready by the end of 2025.
Dolly Parton, a famous country legend, has multiple career dreams that she is currently striving to achieve. In an interview with Taste of Country last January, Parton disclosed her desire to establish her very own television network in the near future.
