Dolly Parton’s Broadway Dream: Why She Wants to Hold a Lookalike Contest for Her Musical

  • by

Dolly Parton is interested in hosting a lookalike contest for a specific reason. If you happen to closely resemble Dolly Parton, whether it be from any time in her career, she might consider selecting you to be a part of a Broadway musical centered around her life.

Yes, it is true. Parton is currently working on transforming her life story into a musical, as she shared with People magazine.

She expresses that going to Broadway and debuting her own show there has been a significant goal for her for a long time. She emphasizes that this is the one goal she is determined to accomplish while she is still alive and able to actively participate in it.

In this manner, she will have the opportunity to make artistic choices, such as the unconventional decision to extend casting to individuals of various backgrounds, rather than limiting it to those with extensive experience in musical theater.

Parton mentions that she could potentially lead a contest called "Finding Dolly," where they would conduct a wide-ranging talent search to find actors for three different versions of the main character. These versions include a young Dolly, a Dolly in her earlier years, and an older Dolly.

"We will be conducting auditions and using various methods to discover these individuals. I believe this process will also be enjoyable for people," Parton explains. "The exciting part is not knowing where we will find them. They could be individuals who have never stepped foot on a stage before or perhaps have only performed in a small local theater. However, the search for these talented individuals will be an enjoyable aspect of the process, in my opinion."

Parton has mentioned the possibility of a musical about her life before, mentioning it in various interviews. She expressed her desire for the show to be ready by around 2025, as stated in her recent conversation with People magazine.

The country legend has multiple career dreams that she is actively pursuing. Last year, Parton shared with Taste of Country that she has a desire to create her own television network in the near future.
