Dolly Parton is interested in organizing a lookalike contest for individuals who closely resemble her, regardless of which phase of her career they resemble. If you are chosen, she may consider casting you in a Broadway musical that tells the story of her life.
Yes, it is true. Parton is currently working on transforming her life story into a musical, as she disclosed to People.
She expresses that going to Broadway and debuting her own show there has always been a significant goal for her. She wants to ensure that she accomplishes this while she is still alive and able to actively participate in it.
By doing so, she will have the opportunity to make her own choices in a creative manner. This includes the unconventional decision to allow individuals from various backgrounds to audition for the role of Dolly, rather than only considering those who have extensive experience in musical theater.
Parton mentions that she might have the opportunity to lead a competition called "Finding Dolly," where they will conduct a wide-ranging search to find actors for three versions of the main character. These versions include a younger Dolly, a Dolly from earlier years, and an older Dolly.
"We will be holding auditions and utilizing various methods to discover these individuals. I believe it will also be an enjoyable experience for people," Parton adds. "The exciting part is that you never know where we will come across them. They may have never had any prior stage experience or perhaps have only performed in small local theaters. Nevertheless, our search for them will be an entertaining aspect, in my opinion."
Parton has previously mentioned the possibility of a musical centered around her life in various interviews. She expressed her desire to have the show ready by "late '25," as stated in her recent discussion with People magazine.
One of the aspirations that the renowned country singer is currently striving towards is to fulfill her dream of having her own television network. In an interview with Taste of Country last January, Parton expressed her desire to make this dream a reality in the near future.
