  • by

Dolly Parton is interested in hosting a lookalike contest for a specific reason. If you happen to look very similar to Dolly Parton, whether it's from any point in her career, she might consider selecting you to be a part of a Broadway musical centered around her life.

Yes, it is true. Parton is currently working on transforming her life story into a musical, as she disclosed to People magazine.

For a long time now, the thought of performing on Broadway and debuting my own show there has been a major goal in my mind. It's something that I really want to accomplish while I'm still alive and able to actively participate in it.

By doing so, she will have the freedom to make artistic choices, such as the unconventional decision to broaden the casting process for potential Dollys to people from diverse backgrounds, rather than limiting it to those with extensive musical theater backgrounds.

Parton reveals that she may oversee a competition called "Finding Dolly," where a wide-ranging search will be conducted to find actors to portray three different versions of the main character. These versions will include a young Dolly, a Dolly from her earlier years, and an older Dolly.

"We will be holding auditions and exploring various avenues to discover these individuals. I believe it will also be enjoyable for the audience," Parton adds. "You never know where you might come across them. They might not have had any prior stage experience, or perhaps they have performed in a small theater in their local area. Nevertheless, we will actively search for them, and I believe that aspect will add to the excitement."

Parton has previously mentioned the possibility of creating a musical about her life during various interviews. She expressed her desire to have the show ready for production by the end of 2025, as stated in her recent discussion with People magazine.

The renowned country music icon has several career aspirations that she is actively pursuing. In a previous interview with Taste of Country, Parton shared her desire to establish her own television network in the near future.
