Dolly Parton’s Broadway Musical Dreams: Why She Wants to Hold a Lookalike Contest

  • by

Dolly Parton is interested in hosting a lookalike contest for a specific reason. If you happen to resemble Dolly Parton, whether it's from any point in her career, she might consider selecting you to be a part of a Broadway show that revolves around her life.

Indeed, Parton is currently engaged in the process of transforming her life story into a musical, as she disclosed to People magazine.

She expresses that going on Broadway and debuting her own show there has always been a significant goal for her, which she has been thinking about for a long time. She emphasizes that this particular goal is one she wants to ensure she accomplishes while she is still alive and able to actively participate in it.

In this manner, she will have the opportunity to make creative choices, such as the unconventional decision to allow individuals from diverse backgrounds to audition for the role of Dolly, rather than solely considering those with extensive musical theater backgrounds.

Parton suggests that she could potentially lead a competition called "Finding Dolly," which would involve searching for talented individuals to portray three different versions of the main character. These versions include a young Dolly, a Dolly from her earlier years, and an older Dolly, as clarified by the singer.

"We will be conducting auditions and using various methods to discover these individuals. I believe this process will also be enjoyable for people," Parton states. "You never know where you might come across them. They might not have any prior experience on stage or perhaps have only performed in local theaters. However, we will actively search for them, and I believe that aspect will add to the enjoyment of the process."

Parton has mentioned the idea of a musical about her life before, mentioning it in various interviews. She expressed her desire to have the show ready by "late '25" in her recent conversation with People.

The renowned country artist has several career aspirations that she is currently striving to achieve. In an interview with Taste of Country last January, Parton disclosed her desire to establish her own television network in the near future.
