Dolly Parton is interested in organizing a lookalike contest for a specific reason. If you happen to closely resemble Dolly Parton, regardless of which phase of her career, she might consider selecting you to be a part of a Broadway musical based on her life.
Indeed, Parton is currently in the process of transforming her life story into a musical, as she disclosed to People.
She expresses that going to Broadway and debuting her own show there has always been a significant goal for her. It is something she has been thinking about for a long time and she is determined to accomplish it while she is still alive and able to actively participate in it.
In this manner, she will have the opportunity to make imaginative choices, such as the unconventional decision to allow individuals from diverse backgrounds to audition for the role of Dolly, regardless of their previous experience in musical theater.
Parton mentions that she could potentially lead a competition called "Finding Dolly," where they would conduct an extensive search to find actors for three different versions of the main character. These versions would include a young Dolly, a Dolly from her earlier years, and an older Dolly. Parton provides these details about the contest.
"We will be holding auditions and searching for talented individuals using various methods. I believe this process will also be enjoyable for the audience," says Parton. "The exciting part is that we never know where we will discover these individuals. They may have never performed on stage before, or perhaps they have only participated in small local theater productions. However, we will actively search for them, and I believe that will add to the excitement."
Parton has mentioned the concept of a musical based on her life before, casually mentioning it in various interviews. She expressed her desire to see the show come to life by "late '25," as shared in her recent conversation with People magazine.
The country music icon has several career aspirations that she is actively working towards. In a previous interview with Taste of Country, Parton expressed her desire to establish her own television network in the near future.
