Dolly Parton is interested in holding a lookalike contest for a specific reason. If you happen to look very similar to her, whether it's from her early days or her current career, she might consider selecting you to play her in a Broadway show that tells her life story.
Correct, Parton is currently working on transforming her life story into a musical, as she disclosed to People magazine.
She expresses that going to Broadway and debuting her show there has always been a significant goal for her. It is something she has desired for a long time and she wants to ensure that she accomplishes it while she is still alive and able to actively participate in it.
In this manner, she will have the opportunity to make imaginative choices, such as the unconventional decision to allow individuals from diverse backgrounds to audition for the role of Dolly, rather than solely considering those with extensive musical theater background.
Parton suggests that she might take charge of a competition called "Finding Dolly," where they will conduct a wide-ranging search for talented individuals to play three different versions of the main character. These versions include a young Dolly, a Dolly from her earlier years, and an older version of Dolly, as described by the singer.
"We will be conducting auditions and searching for them using various methods. I believe this will also be enjoyable for people," Parton states. "You never know where you will discover them. They might have never performed on stage before or may have only been in a local theater production, but we will seek them out and that will add to the excitement, I believe."
