Dolly Parton is interested in organizing a lookalike contest for a specific reason. If you happen to closely resemble Dolly Parton, whether it be from any point in her career, she might consider selecting you to star in a Broadway production based on her life.
It is true that Parton is currently busy with the task of transforming her life story into a musical, as she disclosed to People magazine.
She expresses that going to Broadway and debuting her own show there has been a significant goal for her for a long time. It is the one achievement she wants to ensure she accomplishes while she is still alive and able to actively participate in it.
By doing so, she will have the opportunity to make artistic choices, which includes the unconventional decision to extend casting to individuals from various backgrounds, rather than solely considering those with extensive musical theater background.
Parton suggests that she may take charge of a competition called "Finding Dolly," where a wide talent search will be conducted to find actors for three different versions of the main character. These versions include a young Dolly, a Dolly from her earlier years, and an older Dolly, as clarified by the singer.
"We will be holding auditions and searching for them using various methods. I believe this will be enjoyable for people as well," adds Parton. "You never know where you might discover them. They may have never performed on stage before, or perhaps they have only been involved in local theater productions. Nevertheless, we will actively seek them out, and I believe that will add to the excitement."
Parton has previously mentioned the possibility of a musical about her life in a few interviews. She expressed her desire to have the show ready by "late '25," as mentioned in her recent discussion with People magazine.
Dolly Parton, a renowned country singer, has expressed her ambition to fulfill various career dreams. In an interview with Taste of Country last January, Parton disclosed her desire to establish her own television network in the near future.
