The Traumatic Side of Fame: Hayden Panettiere Opens Up About the Emotional Toll of ‘Nashville

  • by

Hayden Panettiere, known for her role in the television series 'Nashville', recently revealed in an interview that filming the show had a profound and distressing impact on her. Despite the immense success she achieved through her involvement in the series, Panettiere describes the experience as "very traumatizing."

Panettiere played the role of country singer Juliette Barnes on the television show Nashville, which aired between 2012 and 2018. Throughout her career, Panettiere has been candid about her battles with alcoholism, opioid addiction, and post-partum depression. In a recent interview, she revealed that the show's writers drew heavily from her own experiences when crafting her character's storylines, making the filming process particularly challenging for her.

Right from the start, it felt like I was dating a football player, and then the character of Juliette also dates a football player," Panettiere explains. "But then they portrayed her as an alcoholic. They also had her abandon her daughter and go to some crazy place in Europe, and it was clear that they weren't being original. They didn't do their research or come up with new storylines. They just took my personal experiences and added their own twist to it. And just like that, it was done and over with."

Panettiere expresses that her time on Nashville was highly fulfilling in terms of her professional growth. However, she also reveals that the experience was emotionally distressing for her as she felt as though she was reliving her own personal life through her character.

Panettiere plans to undertake a tour called "A Conversation With Hayden Panettiere" across three cities. The purpose of this tour is to inspire and support individuals who may be facing similar challenges as she has in her own life.
