Garth Brooks, the famous country singer, once had an interesting encounter with a professional baseball player that resulted in the player changing his batting stance. The current manager of the Chicago Cubs, Craig Counsell, had an impressive career as a baseball player spanning from 1995 to 2007.
Counsell gained a reputation for his unique batting stance, which involved holding his bat high up in the air. The reason behind this unusual approach remained a mystery, as he never provided any explanation for it.
After being appointed as the manager of the Chicago Cubs, Counsell participated in the 2024 Cubs Convention. During the event, an individual finally inquired about the reason behind his previous habit of holding the bat up in the air.
He attributes the responsibility to Garth Brooks.
Counsell shares that during his time with the Los Angeles Dodgers at spring training, he struggled as a hitter and couldn't manage to get any hits.
During a spring training game, I struck a powerful hit towards the left field. I felt an immediate rush of excitement, thinking it would be my first base hit. With my head down, I sprinted towards first base. The crowd erupted in wild cheers, fueling my anticipation. However, as I glanced up, I was taken aback to witness Garth Brooks, the country singer, making a remarkable diving catch in left field. This incredible play by Brooks prolonged my streak of not getting a hit, leaving me at 0-4
The attendees at the press conference found this narrative to be extremely amusing.
The following day, I was freed from a certain situation. I engaged in a personal conversation, pondering the question, "Why am I unable to achieve any successes?" This contemplation eventually prompted me to raise my hands high up in the air, and surprisingly, it had a positive impact on my situation.

Brooks, who is widely recognized as one of the most influential figures in the music industry, also had a passion for sports during his youth. He actively participated in baseball and track and field events. Although he had the opportunity to join the New York Mets on three separate occasions, he unfortunately did not secure a spot on the team.
