  • by

Conner Smith has recently released his first album titled "Smoky Mountains." One of the tracks from the album, called "Creek Will Rise," is gaining popularity and quickly climbing the country music charts.

Not too far in the past, the up-and-coming talent was an average sixteen-year-old who attended a concert of one of his beloved country music performers.

During the most recent episode of Taste of Country Nights, which is available On Demand, Smith shares a personal anecdote about his experience at a Thomas Rhett concert in 2016 that left a lasting impression on him.

At the age of 16, I went on a date with a girl to watch a Thomas Rhett concert. I still remember that it took place at Ascend Amphitheater and we were seated on the lawn area. During the show, Thomas Rhett performed his song "Die a Happy Man" and at that moment, I wanted to slow dance with the girl and be affectionate.

Smith adds that the following day, his girlfriend ended their relationship.

After we have a good laugh, he proceeds to tell the rest of the story. "And then, about 4 years later, I am on tour with Rhett and I thought to myself, 'I guess I ended up having the final victory in that situation,' if you understand what I'm saying," he remembers.

Smith has shared this story during his performances, and it has become a popular choice among the audience.
