During the most recent episode of Taste of Country Nights, available On Demand, Smith shares a personal anecdote about his experience at a Thomas Rhett concert in 2016 that deeply influenced him.
At the age of 16, I had the opportunity to go on a date with a girl to a Thomas Rhett concert. The concert took place at Ascend Amphitheater, and we were seated on the lawn area. During the show, Thomas Rhett performed his popular song "Die a Happy Man," and I wanted to have a romantic moment with the girl I was with by attempting to slow dance with her, hoping to create a sweet and intimate atmosphere.
Smith further explains that the following day, his partner ended their relationship.
We have a moment of laughter together, and then he proceeds to tell the rest of the story. He mentions that about four years later, he was on tour with Rhett and jokingly says, "I suppose I had the final victory in that situation, if you know what I mean."
Smith has recounted this particular story multiple times during his performances, and it has become a beloved choice among the audience.
