Conner Smith has recently released his first album called Smoky Mountains. One of his songs, "Creek Will Rise," is gaining popularity and climbing up the country music charts.
Not too far in the past, the young talent was an ordinary sixteen-year-old who attended a concert of one of his beloved country music artists.
During the most recent episode of Taste of Country Nights, available on demand, Smith shares a personal anecdote about his experience at a Thomas Rhett concert in 2016 that left a lasting impression on him.
At the age of 16, I had the opportunity to go on a date with a girl to watch a Thomas Rhett concert. The venue was Ascend Amphitheater, and we had chosen to sit on the lawn area. During the show, Thomas Rhett performed his popular song "Die a Happy Man," and as the music played, I attempted to slow dance with the girl, wanting to create a sweet and romantic moment.
Smith mentions that the following day, his partner ended their relationship.
We have a moment of laughter before he proceeds with the narrative. He mentions that about four years later, he was on a tour with Rhett and he thought to himself, "I suppose I had the final laugh in that situation, if you know what I mean."
Smith has shared this story on stage multiple times and it is a beloved choice among the audience.
Let's discuss the ultimate satisfaction and validation that can be achieved in a breakup situation.
