  • by

Country music fans, both those who enjoy traditional and modern styles, have something exciting to look forward to. A new rendition of Glen Campbell's song "Hold on Hope," featuring a collaboration with Eric Church, was released on Friday (Jan. 26).

The unexpected release is part of the upcoming reimagined edition of Campbell's album "Ghost on the Canvas" from 2011. This revised version will be available on April 19 through Surfdog Records and Big Machine Label Group.

The emotional song was penned by Robert Pollard, and it features Church and Campbell taking turns to sing the four verses. These verses depict the honest introspection of a tired individual about life, feeling alone, and the optimism they hold for a brighter future.

The lyrics of the song express the idea that the streets are all dark and unknown, and we are constantly taking a risk in order to live our lives. We are always striving and searching for support, even though we can't physically see it. The singers emphasize that everyone clings to hope, and for them, it is the only thing keeping them going. These heartfelt words are accompanied by the soft strumming of an acoustic guitar.

"Being invited to the final dance, and then it's time to depart. However, that's the consequence we face when we betray and deceive each other. Like an animal mother, she freely opens up. Everyone clings onto hope, which is the only thing keeping me going," they sing in the second verse, as the drumbeats intensify in the song.

Included in the album Glen Campbell Duets – Ghost on the Canvas Sessions are songs that Glen Campbell collaborated on with various artists such as Dolly Parton, Sting, Daryl Hall, Carole King, and Eric Clapton. One of the tracks featured on the album is a rendition of "Nothing But the Whole Wide World" performed by Clapton and Campbell.

Campbell, known for his popular songs such as "Rhinestone Cowboy," "Gentle on My Mind," and "Southern Nights," passed away on August 8, 2017, at a care facility in Nashville. He had been publicly fighting against Alzheimer's disease for a considerable amount of time.

At the moment, Church is gaining popularity on the country music charts with his latest song called "Man Made a Bar," which features a collaboration with Morgan Wallen. These well-known artists have also decided to work together to bring back the printed versions of Field & Stream magazine.
