Eric Church Joins Glen Campbell on Emotional Posthumous Duet “Hold on Hope” [Listen]

Country music fans, both those who enjoy traditional and modern sounds, have something to look forward to. A collaboration between Glen Campbell and Eric Church on a posthumously released duet titled "Hold on Hope" was released on Friday, January 26th.

The unexpected release is a part of the revamped and posthumous edition of Campbell's album "Ghost on the Canvas" from 2011, which will be available on April 19 through Surfdog Records and Big Machine Label Group.

The touching song was composed by Robert Pollard. It features Church and Campbell taking turns to sing each of the four verses, which tell the story of a tired individual's honest contemplation on life, solitude, and the aspiration for a brighter future.

Each road is shrouded in darkness and unfurls with an air of secrecy. Within lies the risk we willingly embrace in order to constantly strive and exert effort. We extend our hands, seeking support from an invisible presence. Everyone clings onto hope; it is the final thread that keeps me going, as expressed by Campbell and Church accompanied by the gentle strumming of an acoustic guitar.

The lyrics in the second verse of the song talk about receiving an invitation to a final dance before it's time to depart. However, this comes at a cost because deception is involved in our interactions with each other. The lyrics also mention a female figure who is generous and welcoming to everyone. Despite the challenges, there is still hope that holds everyone together, and this is emphasized by the increasing intensity of the drumbeats.

Included in the album Glen Campbell Duets — Ghost on the Canvas Sessions are songs where Glen Campbell collaborates with various artists such as Dolly Parton, Sting, Daryl Hall, Carole King, and Eric Clapton. One of the tracks, "Nothing But the Whole Wide World," is a rendition performed by Clapton and Campbell, and is available for listening now.

Campbell, who was known for popular songs like "Rhinestone Cowboy," "Gentle on My Mind," and "Southern Nights," passed away on August 8, 2017, in a care facility in Nashville. He had been fighting against Alzheimer's disease for a long time, and his struggle was widely known to the public.

At the moment, Church is experiencing success on the country music charts with his latest song "Man Made a Bar," which he collaborated on with Morgan Wallen. Additionally, the two popular artists have recently expanded their collaboration to bring back the print editions of Field & Stream magazine.
