Morgan Wallen Criticizes Record Release, Drops New Version of ‘Spin You Around

  • by

Morgan Wallen expresses his disapproval of releasing his new song "Spin You Around" again, indicating that he had no intention of re-recording it either.

On Friday, the singer delighted his fans by sharing a heartfelt acoustic love ballad. He also took the opportunity to discuss how a choice he made a decade ago ultimately influenced his decision to release this

Alongside criticizing the timing of this release, Wallen also expressed negative opinions about the music.

In connection to the previous news, Morgan Wallen has compiled a list of the 40 songs that have been played the most over the past 50 years

According to the writer, their early attempts at writing were a mix of decent and awful. They admit to being a beginner and still trying to navigate the process of writing in general. Additionally, they clarify that they were not the sole contributor, so many of the songs were not their own concepts or up to their personal standards.

Morgan Wallen's Stand Alone EP has gained almost 400 million streams on Spotify, with the previous version of "Spin You Alone" reaching 240 million streams. The EP also features tracks like "Sleep When We're Dead" and "Yin Yang Girl." While the project has a country-rock sound, it still incorporates the hip-hop influence that Wallen has become recognized for.

Paul Trust and Sergio Sanchez, who is the lead singer of the rock band Atom Smash, have collaborated with Wallen to write all 13 songs on this album. Although these songs may not have the same level of intensity as the music Wallen would later release, fans will still be able to identify the familiar rhythm in new tracks like "Going Down" and appreciate the relaxed melody in songs such as "Scared to Live Without You."

During the year 2014, Wallen participated in Season 6 of The Voice. Therefore, it can be assumed that the songwriting session for these songs occurred shortly after, around 18 to 24 months before he inked a deal with Big Loud Records. Wallen does not reject the fact that he recorded for Panacea and entered into an artist management agreement.

Regrettably, I entered into both agreements without the assistance or guidance of a lawyer," Wallen clarifies.

"2 of Us Alone" is an instance of a song that one would regret. It has a weak arrangement and the vocalist's talent is hardly recognizable in 2024.

Wallen is joined by piano and acoustic guitar on the track "Afterglow," which appears to be aimed at fans of soft rock from the early 2000s. On the other hand, songs like "Man of the South" and "Bonfire Jam" are more geared towards a mainstream rock audience. If producer Trust were to release this collection of songs, it is unlikely that he would receive new projects in Nashville.

Morgan Wallen wants to clarify to his fans that the recently released album is not his upcoming project. However, he assures them that he will be back in the studio to record new music in February.

He expresses a feeling of embarrassment or discomfort whenever he listens to these songs.

Joey Moi took charge of producing the fresh acoustic rendition of "Spin You Around," which was given the green light. Wallen mentions that he recorded it in Nashville during this week and even took on the task of creating the cover art for the song.

In order to give back, he has made the decision to contribute $100,000 from the Morgan Wallen Foundation to the Volunteer Lawyers & Professionals for the Arts program. This donation aims to assist young musicians who may encounter similar circumstances.
