Morgan Wallen Opens Up About Controversial Record Release and Drops New Version of ‘Spin You Around

  • by

Morgan Wallen expresses his dissatisfaction with the release of his new record and unexpectedly drops a revised version of his song "Spin You Around." It seems that Wallen had no intentions of re-recording or re-releasing the track, and his lack of enthusiasm is evident.

On Friday, the musician delighted his fans by sharing a heartfelt acoustic love song, while also revealing the circumstances that led him to make a difficult choice a decade ago.

Besides criticizing the timing of the release, Wallen also spoke negatively about the music.

Associated: Morgan Wallen compiles a compilation of the 40 songs that have been played the most in the past 50 years.

The writer admits that while some of the songs they created were decent, the majority of them were quite awful. This was mainly because they were still in the process of learning how to write and were trying to understand the whole concept. Additionally, it is important to note that they were not the sole creator of these songs, as they collaborated with others. Therefore, many of the

Morgan Wallen's Stand Alone EP has garnered close to 400 million streams on Spotify, with one of the older versions of "Spin You Alone" reaching 240 million streams. The EP also features songs like "Sleep When We're Dead" and "Yin Yang Girl." While the project has a country-rock sound, it still incorporates the hip-hop influence that Wallen has become recognized for.

Paul Trust and Sergio Sanchez, who is the lead singer of the rock band Atom Smash, have collaborated with Wallen as co-writers on all 13 songs. Although these songs may not possess the same level of intensity as Wallen's later recordings, fans will still be able to identify familiar beats in new tracks like "Going Down" and appreciate the relaxed melody in songs like "Scared to Live Without You."

During the year 2014, Wallen took part in Season 6 of The Voice. Therefore, it is highly probable that the songwriting session that resulted in these songs occurred shortly after his participation in the show, around 18 to 24 months before he eventually signed with Big Loud Records. Although he does not refute recording for Panacea and entering into an artist management agreement.

Regrettably, Wallen clarifies that he agreed to both contracts without the assistance of a lawyer.

"2 of Us Alone" is an instance of a regrettable song. It features a weak arrangement and a vocalist who is hardly recognizable in 2024.

Wallen is supported by piano and acoustic guitar on "Afterglow," a track that appears to appeal to fans of soft rock from the early 2000s. In contrast, "Man of the South" and "Bonfire Jam" seem to cater to a more mainstream rock audience. If producer Trust chooses to promote this collection of songs, it is unlikely that he will find new opportunities in Nashville.

Morgan Wallen wants his fans to understand that the recently released album is not his upcoming project. However, he assures them that he will be back in the studio to record new music in February.

He expresses discomfort or embarrassment when he hears these songs.

The production of the new acoustic version of "Spin You Around" was led by Joey Moi who also gave his approval. Wallen mentioned that he recorded the song in Nashville this week and he was also responsible for designing the cover art for the song.

In order to give back, he has chosen to contribute $100,000 from the Morgan Wallen Foundation to the Volunteer Lawyers & Professionals for the Arts program. This donation aims to support aspiring musicians who may face similar challenges.
