Morgan Wallen expresses dissatisfaction with the release of his new song "Spin You Around" and unexpectedly drops a new version of it. It seems that Wallen had no intentions of re-recording or re-releasing the song, and it appears that he wasn't particularly enthusiastic about it either.
On Friday, the singer decided to share a heartfelt love song with his fans. He also took the opportunity to explain that his decision was influenced by something that happened 10 years ago.
In addition to criticizing the timing of this release, Wallen expressed negative views about the music.
Associated: Morgan Wallen compiles a list of the top 40 songs that have been played the most in the past five decades.
According to the writer, while some of the songs were decent, the majority of them were poor in quality. This was because the writer was still in the process of learning how to write in general and was trying to figure everything out. The writer also clarifies that they were not the sole contributor to these songs, and therefore, many of them did not meet their personal expectations
Morgan Wallen's EP titled "Stand Alone" has garnered almost 400 million streams on Spotify. One of the tracks, "Spin You Alone," from the previous version of the EP alone has reached 240 million streams. The EP also features songs like "Sleep When We're Dead" and "Yin Yang Girl." Although the project has a country-rock sound, it still incorporates the hip-hop influence that Wallen has become recognized for.
Paul Trust and Sergio Sanchez, who is the lead singer of Atom Smash, collaborated with Wallen as co-writers on all 13 songs. Although the music may not be as intense as his later recordings, fans will still be able to identify the catchy rhythm in new tracks like "Going Down" and the smooth, relaxed melody in songs like "Scared to Live Without You."
During the year 2014, Wallen participated in the sixth season of the TV show The Voice. Therefore, it can be assumed that the songwriting session that resulted in these songs took place shortly after this season, approximately 18 to 24 months before he officially joined Big Loud Records. Wallen does not dispute the fact that he recorded for Panacea and entered into an artist management agreement.
Regrettably, I entered into both agreements without the assistance or guidance of a lawyer, as clarified by Wallen.
"2 of Us Alone" is an instance of a regrettable song. It has a weak arrangement that is paired with a vocalist who is hardly recognizable in the year 2024.
On the track "Afterglow," Wallen is joined by piano and acoustic guitar, creating a sound that appeals to fans of soft rock from the early 2000s. However, with songs like "Man of the South" and "Bonfire Jam," it seems like Wallen is trying to attract a commercial rock audience. If producer Trust were to release this set of songs in Nashville, it's unlikely that he would receive new opportunities.
Morgan Wallen wants to clarify to his fans that the recently released album is not his upcoming project. However, he assures them that he will be going back to the studio in February to record new music.
He expresses discomfort or embarrassment when he hears these songs.
The production of this new acoustic version of "Spin You Around" was led by Joey Moi, who also gave his approval. Wallen mentioned that he recorded it in Nashville this week, and he even designed the cover art for the song.
In an act of kindness, he has chosen to give back by contributing $100,000 from the Morgan Wallen Foundation to support the Volunteer Lawyers & Professionals for the Arts initiative. The aim is to assist aspiring musicians who could face similar challenges in their careers.
