  • by

Do you recall Scotty McCreery's amazing audition on 'American Idol'? It was evident from the start that he had a strong chance of winning Season 10. This unforgettable audition was first broadcasted on Jan. 26, 2011 and remains one of the standout moments in the show's history.

At the time of his audition for the Idol judges, McCreery was only 16 years old. The panel of judges included Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, and Steven Tyler from Aerosmith. Despite being tall and having his hair shaved in a buzzcut, McCreery already had a mature and deep baritone voice, which would later help him become a prominent contestant on the show.

Before even starting to sing, the contestant from Garner, North Carolina managed to impress the judges. Jennifer Lopez in particular seemed to be taken by him, engaging in friendly banter and remarking, "I really hope you have a great singing voice!"

During McCreery's audition, he performed "Your Man" by Josh Turner, impressing everyone with his powerful voice in the lower range. Tyler then requested him to showcase his higher range, so McCreery sang "Put Some Drive in Your Country" by Travis Tritt.

"Oh my goodness, keep some matches to yourself and let's see what happens," a surprised Tyler said.

After that, there was a sudden burst of activity in the room. The other judges, technicians, and producers were all caught off guard and became very busy. However, the calm and composed young man responded, saying, "It's nothing I haven't heard before in high school, my friend."

All the judges were certain and showed no doubt in their decision to advance McCreery to the competition. He consistently delivered powerful performances every week. At the age of only 17, McCreery achieved victory in Season 10 of American Idol on May 25, 2011, making him one of the program's youngest winners ever.
