Conner Smith has recently released his first album called "Smoky Mountains". One of the songs from the album, titled "Creek Will Rise", is quickly gaining popularity on the country music charts.
However, not too far back in time, the up-and-coming talent was an average sixteen-year-old who attended a concert of one of his beloved country music performers.
During the most recent episode of Taste of Country Nights, available On Demand, Smith shares a personal anecdote about his experience at a Thomas Rhett concert in 2016 that left a lasting impression on him.
At the age of 16, I had a date with a girl and we went to see a Thomas Rhett concert. I distinctly recall that the concert took place at Ascend Amphitheater and we were seated on the lawn area. During the show, Thomas Rhett performed his popular song "Die a Happy Man." I attempted to slow dance with the girl I was with, trying to be affectionate and romantic.
Smith then goes on to mention that the following day, his girlfriend ended their relationship.
After sharing a moment of laughter, he proceeds to recount the story. "About 4 years later, I was on tour with Rhett and I couldn't help but think, 'I guess I had the ultimate satisfaction in the end,' if you know what I mean," he remembers.
Smith has shared this story with the audience on several occasions and it has become a beloved favorite among them.
