Underrated and Overlooked: 14 Country Stars Who Deserve More Respect

  • by

There are 14 country music stars who deserve more recognition, and one of them is Dwight Yoakam. However, we recently discovered another legendary country artist whose accomplishments have been largely overlooked.

Yoakam's performance at the CMA, ACM, and Grammy Awards has been lackluster with a batting average of only .081 (3-37). Despite this, he has managed to secure three wins. In comparison, the Bellamy Brothers have not been as fortunate.

The Bellamy Brothers, David and Howard, have an astonishing record of 0-29 at the three major award shows. No other country duo has received as many nominations in their category and yet, they have never won. The Bellamy Brothers have been so consistently overlooked that they were not even taken into consideration when the Taste of Country team compiled a list of deserving artists who are not in the Country Music Hall of Fame.

We will set aside the discussion about contemporary country singers who do not receive the respect they deserve for a later time.

There are several renowned female soloists and three well-known groups included in this list. Billy Ray Cyrus is also featured, which might generate some disagreement. Nevertheless, the evidence is clear – it's about time to show him and his 13 associates a little more admiration.
