Underrated Legends: 14 Country Stars Who Deserve More Respect

  • by

There are 14 country stars who should be given more recognition. While Dwight Yoakam may have seemed like the most unappreciated singer in country music, we have now discovered another highly respected country artist.

Yoakam's batting average at the CMA, ACM, and Grammy Awards is only .081, which means he has only been successful in three out of 37 attempts. Despite this low average, he has managed to win three times. In comparison, the Bellamy Brothers have not been as fortunate.

David and Howard Bellamy, a country music duo, have had an astonishing record of 0-29 at the three main shows. Despite receiving the highest number of nominations in the duo category, they have never won. Their lack of recognition is evident as the Taste of Country team did not even include them in their list of deserving artists not in the Country Music Hall of Fame.

It is possible that you might feel as strongly as we did about this form of disrespect. The following list consists of 14 artists, specifically focusing on legacy acts who we believe deserve greater respect.

We will reserve the discussion about contemporary country singers who are not given the proper respect for another time.

This list includes two highly acclaimed female solo artists and three well-known groups. Billy Ray Cyrus is also included, although his presence may be met with disagreement. Nevertheless, the facts speak for themselves, and it is time to acknowledge him and his 13 peers with a greater level of respect.
