Aim Audio Introduces Inspire and Essence: Innovative Microphones for Pro Audio

  • by

Welcome! We are excited to introduce Aim Audio, a new brand that specializes in bringing innovative micro

Aim Audio, a newly established pro audio brand, has revealed their upcoming launch of two groundbreaking microphones called Inspire and Essence, just before the NAMM Show 2024. These microphones offer a unique feature of having a switchable electronic and transformer-balanced output stage. Additionally, they come with a cleverly designed shockmount and pop filter system. Manufactured in Berlin, Germany, Aim Audio guarantees exceptional performance at a remarkably competitive price.

The Inspire microphone has various options for polar patterns, pads, and high-pass filters. The main model, Inspire, has a one-inch condenser capsule and offers five polar patterns (Cardioid, Wide Cardioid, Super Cardioid, Omni, Figure-8) that can be chosen using a wheel on the microphone. An LED indicator shows when the polarisation voltage has settled. There are four buttons for selecting high-pass filter (80 or 115 Hz) and pad (-10 or -20 dB) options. Additional Front and Back buttons allow the user to determine which side of the capsule is the front, ensuring convenience for accessing the controls.

In addition, there are two buttons available that allow you to alternate between the electronic or transformer-balanced output stages. The electronic output stage is known for its cleaner sound, while the transformer-balanced output stage is said to provide a deeper bass and a slower response to changes in sound.

The Essence microphone has the same physical design as the other models, but it has a fixed cardioid pattern and a simplified set of controls. It has a single option for an 80Hz high-pass filter and a -10dB pad. However, it still has the same options for the output stage. Both models have useful features like built-in peak metering and backlit controls that can be dimmed or turned off completely if needed.

The company has created a shockmount called Orbit and a pop filter called Sentry that are designed specifically for the new microphones. When purchasing the Inspire microphone, both the shockmount and pop filter are included as standard. However, those who purchase the Essence microphone have the option to buy the shockmount and pop filter separately if needed. The Orbit shockmount has a tilting mechanism that allows the microphone to be rotated up to 190 degrees, making it easy to position in any application without needing to place it on a stand in an awkward way. The Sentry pop filter features a steel mesh design and a magnetic base that can be attached directly to the Orbit shockmount, facing in either direction.
