The former mansion of country music icon Conway Twitty, located in the Nashville area, has been saved from being demolished. The current owners had initially planned to tear it down, but after facing public opposition, they decided to reconsider their plans and preserve the historic property.
Twitty's property, located in the wealthy Nashville suburb of Hendersonville, Tennessee, was not only his estate but also the location of the famous Twitty City tourist attraction. However, after Twitty passed away in 1993, the property was bought by the Trinity Broadcasting Network, who transformed it into an entertainment complex. Currently, the property is being used as the filming location for Mike Huckabee's Huckabee show.
The former mansion of Conway Twitty was at risk of being demolished due to the damage caused by a tornado that hit the area in December 2023. Frank Amedia, who works for TBN's real estate division, presented a proposal to the Hendersonville Planning Commission. The plan involved demolishing all the structures on the property, except for the Huckabee Theater, to accommodate the studio's expansion and the construction of senior living facilities. This plan attracted significant attention from the media.
The Board of Mayor and Aldermen initially voted against TBN's plans. However, after receiving feedback from the public and having a meeting with Joni Ryles, the daughter of Twitty who had previously opposed the demolition, TBN has decided to change their plans. This update was reported by WKRN in Nashville.
The decision to take action regarding Conway Twitty's house was made after careful consideration, prayer, and discussions with various individuals. Despite the additional expenses involved, the decision was not influenced by financial concerns.
TBN has not provided any details about how they plan to preserve the Twitty Mansion yet. However, Amedia, who expressed his desire to utilize the location, aims to honor the remarkable legacy of the country music legend through the facility.
