The former mansion of country music legend Conway Twitty, located in the Nashville area, has been rescued from destruction. The current owners had originally intended to demolish the iconic property, but they changed their minds after facing public criticism and opposition.
Twitty had an estate in the wealthy suburb of Hendersonville, Tennessee, and it was also home to a tourist attraction called Twitty City. However, after Twitty passed away in 1993, the property was bought by Trinity Broadcasting Network. They transformed it into an entertainment complex, which is now being used as the filming location for Mike Huckabee's Huckabee show.
The former mansion of Conway Twitty was at risk of being demolished due to the damage caused by a tornado that hit the area in December 2023. Frank Amedia, a representative of TBN's real estate division, proposed a plan to the Hendersonville Planning Commission. The plan involved demolishing all the structures on the property, except for the Huckabee Theater, to make space for expanding the studio and constructing senior living facilities. This proposal received significant attention from the media.
The Board of Mayor and Aldermen initially voted against TBN. However, after considering public opinion and meeting with Twitty's daughter, Joni Ryles, who opposed the demolition, TBN has now altered its plans.
The speaker, Amedia, shares that they have listened to the opinions of the city, prayed about it, and had discussions with others. They have ultimately decided that taking a certain action is the right course of action, even if it means spending more money.
The details of how TBN plans to preserve the Twitty Mansion have not been disclosed yet. However, Amedia has expressed his desire to utilize the property in a way that pays tribute to the renowned country music figure.
