The former mansion of Conway Twitty, a famous country music artist, has been saved from being destroyed in the Nashville area. The current owners had initially planned to demolish the house, but changed their minds after receiving backlash from the public.
Twitty had a property in Hendersonville, Tennessee, a wealthy suburb of Nashville. This property was known as Twitty City and was a popular tourist attraction. However, after Twitty passed away in 1993, the Trinity Broadcasting Network bought the property and turned it into an entertainment complex. Currently, the property is being used as the filming location for Mike Huckabee's show, Huckabee.
What caused the potential demolition of Conway Twitty's home?
In December of 2023, a tornado hit the area and caused damage to the structural stability of the former Twitty mansion. As a result, Frank Amedia, who represents TBN's real estate division, proposed a plan to the Hendersonville Planning Commission. The plan involved demolishing all structures on the property, except for the Huckabee Theater, in order to facilitate the planned expansion of the studio and the construction of senior living facilities. This proposal received significant attention from the media.
After the Board of Mayor and Aldermen initially voted against TBN, the television network has decided to alter its plans. This decision came after receiving feedback from the public and holding a meeting with Joni Ryles, the daughter of Twitty, who had previously expressed opposition to the demolition.
The decision to take action regarding Conway Twitty's house was made after careful consideration, prayer, and discussions with relevant individuals. Despite the additional expenses involved, the focus was not on the financial aspect but rather on doing what was deemed right.
The details of how TBN plans to save the Twitty Mansion have not been revealed yet. However, Amedia, who expressed his desire to pay tribute to the renowned country icon, has mentioned his interest in utilizing the property for that purpose.
